2015-16 Manoogian Fellowships in Armenian Studies

The Armenian Studies Program (ASP) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor,
is pleased to announce the 2015- 2016 competition for the Manoogian Simone
Foundation (MSF) Fellowships.

These fellowships, made possible by a generous gift from the Manoogian Simone Foundation and Alex and Marie Manoogian Foundation, and to be known as “Manoogian Simone Foundation Fellows,” will comprise pre-doctoral, post-doctoral, and visiting scholar  positions at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

All applications must be received by February 1, 2015. Applicants will be
notified in early March.

Fellowships for Visiting Scholars in Armenian Studies at the University of
Michigan, Ann Arbor

The purpose of the visiting scholar fellowships is to diversify the Armenian
studies curricular offerings to undergraduate and graduate students at the
University of Michigan. Visiting Scholars, who are usually invited for one
semester, will be asked to teach one or two classes per term, and to
participate in ASP sponsored events including presenting two public
lectures. Preference will be given to candidates outside the disciplines of
history, language, and literature. Armenian Studies Fellowships for visiting
scholars will be awarded for one academic term (fall or winter). Fellowships
can also be offered for mini-courses to be taught over three or four weeks.
The scope and number of fellowships awarded is contingent upon the
availability of funds.

Application materials should include:

Current CV
Copy of work published or pending publication (if publications are not in
English please provide a writing sample/paper in English)
Description of possible courses the applicant proposes to teach (maximum
1 page per course)
Two letters of recommendation.

Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Armenian Studies at the University of Michigan,
Ann Arbor

The purpose of the post-doctoral fellowships is to offer research and
teaching opportunities to candidates who have been awarded PhD during the
past three years, or advanced PhD students who will complete their PhD by
the time they arrive at the University of Michigan. Applicants must have the
PhD degree on hand before the start of their potential tenure as a fellow in
order to qualify.

Post-doctoral fellows will be asked to participate in ASP sponsored events,
to present two public lectures, and to teach one course per semester or one
course per year. Post-doctoral fellowships may be awarded for one academic
semester or one academic year to recent graduates whose dissertations are
closely related to Armenian studies. The scope and number of fellowships
awarded is contingent upon the availability of funds.

Application materials should include:

Current CV
Copy of dissertation in hard copy, digital or electronic form. If
dissertation is not complete at the time of the application, applicant
should forward completed parts with a detailed outline of the rest of the
work. If dissertation is not in English, please provide a chapter in
translation and other writing samples in English.
Statement regarding proposed research during tenure as Fellow (maximum 2
pages)
Description of two possible courses the applicant proposes to teach
(maximum 1 page per course)
Three letters of recommendation.

Pre-Doctoral Fellowships in Armenian Studies at the University of Michigan,
Ann Arbor

The purpose of the pre-doctoral fellowships is to provide an opportunity to
graduate students in other universities in the US or abroad engaged in
graduate level research related to Armenian studies to benefit from the
resources of the University of Michigan (libraries, collections, faculty and
courses) for short or long periods of time. Applicants may have their own
financing or could apply for funding from ASP.

Applications for pre-doctoral fellowships can be sent at any time; ASP will
try to accommodate as many as possible.

Current CV
A writing sample/paper in English
Statement regarding proposed research during tenure as a Fellow (maximum
2 pages)
Two letters of recommendation
