Promise Armenian Institute (PAI) at UCLA- Grant and Fellowship Opportunities
The Promise Armenian Institute (PAI) at UCLA is pleased to announce Grant and Fellowship Opportunities for the 2022-2023 academic year. These opportunities are available to promote scholarship in areas relevant to the PAI mission.
These funding opportunities are described briefly below. More information can be found at the PAI Funding Opportunities website. Applications are generally accepted only once a year; for the coming academic year, applications will be accepted during the period December 6, 2021 through February 1, 2022.
Competitive grants of up to $40,000 (for one year) are available to UCLA faculty members for research projects across all academic fields, including but not limited to the social sciences, health sciences, humanities, music, arts, engineering, and public policy, with a research emphasis on Armenia or Armenians. Smaller grants for more focused research projects will also be considered.
Competitive grants of up to $10,000 are available to UCLA Faculty (ladder or non-ladder) for development of new undergraduate courses that enrich the field of Armenian Studies and/or interdisciplinary perspectives on Armenia or Armenians.
Undergraduate Student Research or Travel Grants
UCLA undergraduate student research or travel grants of up to $3,000 are available to conduct research relevant to Armenia or Artsakh/Nagorno Karabakh during the academic year or the summer.
PhD Dissertation Year Fellowships
One or more competitive dissertation year fellowships are available to UCLA Ph.D. students who are projected to start the final year of study in the Fall of 2022 in fields represented within Armenian studies, such as Armenian language, literature, and history, as well as all other academic fields — including but not limited to the social sciences, health sciences, humanities, music, arts, engineering, and public policy — with a research emphasis on Armenia or Armenians.
One or more competitive postdoctoral fellowships will be available to recent Ph.D. recipients in fields represented within Armenian studies, such as Armenian language, literature, and history, as well as all other academic fields — including but not limited to the social sciences, health sciences, humanities, music, arts, engineering, and public policy — with a research emphasis on Armenia or Armenians.
Additionally, one or more competitive postdoctoral fellowships are expected to be available to recent Ph.D. recipients in fields relevant to the study and documentation of the Armenian Genocide of the early 20th Century.
Scholars from outside of UCLA are welcome to apply, as are UCLA-based scholars, for all PAI postdoctoral fellowships.
