SAS Armenian Genocide Statement, April 24th, 2024
Today marks the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The Society for Armenian Studies honors the memory of those who lost their lives, never to be forgotten. We honor the survivors, who bore witness to unspeakable atrocities and whose resilience and strength in the face of these horrors forged new lives from the ashes of devastation. We also recognize and commemorate the deportations and massacres of Assyrian and Pontic Greek populations of the Ottoman Empire during the same time period.
Additionally, we pay tribute to the unwavering dedication of scholars worldwide who tirelessly research, document, and disseminate knowledge about these crimes against humanity, attempting to ensure that history’s lessons are never forgotten. On this somber anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, we also stand in solidarity with those enduring atrocities today.
