Call for Papers-7th Annual Undergraduate Student Colloquium in Armenian Studies at UCLA

We invite undergraduate students and recent graduates who are interested in Armenian Studies broadly defined to present their recent research. Works in progress, joint projects, and panel presentations are all encouraged. Research conducted in past classes, observational studies, surveys, and exploration of any topics of interest that relate to Armenian studies are also welcome. Research papers can be on any aspect of Armenian studies, including, but not limited to: history, literature, life and physical sciences, economics, gender studies, sociology, anthropology, art history, and much more. This year we are pleased to announce that thanks to a generous donation a $300 prize will be awarded to the participant with the best overall presentation.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all panels and discussions will be broadcast via Zoom. They have been integrated into the program of the UCLA Undergraduate Research Week in three sessions scheduled on May 26-28 2021 (10 a.m.-12 noon) Pacific Standard Time.

Applicants must submit a paper abstract and CV of no more than 250 words each for consideration by April 10, 2021 at 11:59 PM. Abstracts should provide a brief description of the work, clearly outlining the theoretical perspectives and methodology to be applied in the paper. Invited participants will be paired with a graduate mentor in their field and are required to submit a draft version of their full paper by May 10. Each presenter will be allocated a time-slot of twenty minutes maximum for their presentation (about 8-10 pages double-spaced). Presentations can include PowerPoint, poster board, or other media.

Participation in the undergraduate colloquium will provide opportunities for research/honors credit, Armenian Minor credit, research and public speaking skills development, and networking with professors and fellow students.
